My little penguin

Samory has been pushing himself up on his feet more and more, but I think it's so funny when he's wearing one of his sleep sacks without the feet. He looks like a little penguin :)

First Day of Work

Well, today was the first day of work.  It was better than I thought it would be. It was good to see everyone.  I missed Sam so much, but it didn't feel as bizarre as I expected it to feel.  I had almost 800 e-mails, which I wasn't excited to see, but it'll be ok.  Missed this little face, though.

Weekday Afternoons

My sweet, baby boy, I have spent all afternoon rubbing my cheek against the soft down of your hair, and I have spent all afternoon running my fingers against your round little cheeks, and I have spent all afternoon kissing your perfectly formed lips.  You spent this afternoon sleeping on my chest, even though I know you should get used to sleeping in our crib.  You spent this afternoon with your tiny, rapidly beating heart pressed up against mine, and I whispered to you a million times how much I love you.  You arched your back and pressed your diapered bottom in the air and stretched your arms out toward my face, and you slept this way, your clenched hands at the base of my neck-all afternoon.  I'm going to miss afternoons like this-just you and me wrapped up in one another.  I know we'll still have the mornings and evenings and weekends, but I'm going to miss these weekday afternoons. 

Soooo....

I'm not back at work yet.  I'm going to go back on Friday.  Lamine has a doctor's appointment in Spokane on Thursday, so we decided that instead of working one day and then being gone one day, that I should just go back on Friday. So, yay! A few more days with my little cutie. 

I was explaining the Iditarod to Lamine (the dog sledding race), and he said, "You could pay me millions of dollars, and I would never do that."
